The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) is a governing body established by the Maharashtra Government to redevelop slum areas and provide proper housing to slum dwellers. The SRA operates under the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance, and Redevelopment) Act, 1971.
Its main aim is to transform slum regions into organized housing societies with essential amenities. The SRA model allows private developers to participate in redevelopment by providing free housing to eligible slum dwellers while utilizing the remaining land for commercial development.
The SRA’s vision is not only to provide homes but also to uplift communities socially and economically through sustainable and inclusive development.
